The beginning of a new era

 Ali was considered a spokesperson for the African American Community and was a big figure in the eyes of them. His role as a spokesperson for the African American community had greatly increased when he had converted into the Muslim religion and had rebelled against the government by refusing to enter the draft of the Vietnam war. While being band or suspended from boxing, Ali spent his time lecturing at local African American universities and Muslim gatherings.

"Hating people because of their color is wrong.And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plan wrong"-Ali 
Ali speaking to the press on why he felt it was wrong to enter the War. He also shows how he is neither racist nor showing hatred towards anyone even when he was discriminated against.

“Although it reads like the most arrogant, self-important bluster, it was vital for black America to hear a black man say these words without fear of consequence. He fed the esteem of the entire nation by being bold enough to be "pretty" in a time that had labored to make anyone black socially ugly ”-Cherryl Foyd-Miller talking about Ali.

She was explaining to people why it was vital for Ali to act the way he did because with out his attitude, his mission would not have have been as noticed and would not have been as influential as he had been.
